You could be forgiven for thinking that vehicle remapping is only for super high-performance autos, the likes of supercars and sports cars. But you’d be wrong. It can benefit many different kinds of auto, and it seems that drivers are starting to realise the benefits it could bring to their passenger cars.
Analysis of the remapping market by Future Market Insights found that passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) now account for around 70 per cent of the global remapping market.
One of the main factors driving this shift is the desire to achieve better fuel economy. Given that the RAC recently revealed that the UK’s motorists have seen petrol and diesel prices climb for four consecutive months to the end of May, it’s no wonder that drivers are looking at how to get more from their cars.
The average price of petrol now stands at 130.57p per litre, while the average cost of diesel is 135.54p per litre at present.
According to the Future Market Insights research, diesel drivers are more likely to invest in remapping than those with petrol cars.
However, one of the things preventing more people from making use of vehicle remapping is a lack of awareness. As a result, it’s likely to remain a niche service for the next few years.
